Sunday Dinner: Beef Bourguignon
Over the last seven hours Beckman Mastered the Art of French Cooking. Ok, well not exactly but he did master Julia Child’s beef bourguignon, one of his best meals to date. We stole Sparkling Pants’ idea from her dinner Saturday night and served our dish over mashed potatoes, which was a really great move. The creamy potatoes soaked up the gravy from this hearty stew creating a stick-to-your-ribs winter classic.
We paired our meal with one of our Christmas wines; 2010 Guillermo de Mendoza- Pinot Noir- Mendoza, Argentina.

We never blogged our Christmas wine collection from Big Pappi, compliments of Red Feet Wine Market in Ithaca. This has become a really nice tradition. We intend to try and pair these with some great meals, starting tonight.
Thanks to Auntie Jean, Mr. Murray’s getting some homemade biscuits today. He’s really excited!

Tonight we tried Momofuku Noodle Bar for the first time. We’ve been to Ssam Bar a few times and Ma Peche but never Noodle, so this was a pretty exciting Tuesday for us.
We scored great seats at the back bar so we had a first hand look at all the action in the kitchen. There were only four chefs handling the dinner rush and this place was packed! We started with the pork buns (of course) and the brisket buns, then moved on to the momofuku ramen and chilled spicy noodles. We wrapped things up with a swirl of pumpkin ale and pretzel soft serve. This was as incredible as it sounds.
Overall, we were really impressed but expected nothing less from David Chang. We liked the atmosphere a little better than Ssam Bar, thought the food was great and found it to be really affordable for what you get. We look forward to our next visit but first, KO!

Sunday Dinner: Lamb Ragu
Tonight’s dinner was very fitting for the chilling temperatures we’ve been experiencing here in New York. We paired this hearty lamb ragu with another Wine.com selection; Bookwalter- Subplot No. 25- Washington State, Columbia Valley. The wine paired wonderfully with this meal although we aren’t sure we’d get it again. It was very earthy, gritty and high in alcohol which overpowered a lot of the flavors. Overall, it worked for tonight and that’s all that matters.

We finally made it to Earl’s and we were really impressed. Above is their Calabro mozzarella grilled cheese on an english muffin and the NY cheddar with pork belly. The spicy tomato soup was pretty incredible too! You can’t beat good beer and good food a few blocks from home.
